This pair of earrings feature raw sphalerite, willemite, calcite, and franklinite mineral pieces. The earrings are wrapped in copper wire.
The earrings drops are about 2.5" long.
These earrings are one of a kind Elesyn Gaea handmade.
*Please keep in mind that exposure to UV light is dangerous. We recommend the use of protective goggles and gloves, and wearing sunscreen in the hands when handling minerals under UV light*
*Do not put any form of Shortwave UV light on your skin please*
Sphalerite: glittery brown under daylight, fluoresces orange, pink, and blue under LW UV light.
Willemite: Grey under daylight, fluoresces green under SW/LW UV light.
Calcite: white under daylight, fluoresces neon orange/pink under SW/LW UV light.
Franklinite: black under daylight, non fluorescing under UV light.
These specimen were self collected from Sterling Hill Mine in New Jersey.
*You will need a true filtered Shortwave UV light or a Longwave UV light in order to see the fluorescence shown in the pictures.
Shortwave lamps have a range of 200-280 nm.
Longwave lights have a spectrum of 315-400 nm and are also called UVA.
