This natural calcite is white under daylight and it fluoresces and phosphoresces a beautiful blue color under Shortwave (SW 254nm) UV light. It also has a beautiful pink fluorescence under a Longwave (LW 365nm) UV light.

*You will need a filtered Shortwave (SW 254nm) UV light in order to see the blue fluorescence and phosphorescence (after glow shown in picture 3) shown in the pictures. With a filtered Longwave (LW 365nm) you will see a beautiful pink fluorescence.
Each picture is marked with SW/LW to show the different reaction to different UV lights.
*Regular black lights DON'T usually work for fluorescent minerals, so make sure you use the proper indicated UV light*
*Please keep in mind that the higher the UV light's wattage is, the brighter the fluorescent reaction will be*
This calcite has a blue phosphorescence (after glow) when using a SHORTWAVE UV LIGHT ONLY. Very rare phenomenon and a reason why Calcite from this location is world famous and sought after by collectors.
This specimen was photographed using a filtered Convoy C8 Longwave (LW 365nm) UV flashlight, and a 36 watt filtered shortwave (SW 254nm) UV light.
Shortwave lamps have a range of 200-280 nm. (254 nm are recommended)
Longwave lights have a spectrum of 315-400 nm and are also called UVA. (365 are recommended)
