This rough hydrozincite, sphalerite, and calcite specimen fluoresces under a shortwave (SW 254nm), midwave (MW 310nm), and longwave (LW 365nm) UV light as seen in each picture.
✦ UV Requirements:
A true filtered Shortwave UV light (sw 254nm), midwave (MW 310nm) UV light, or longwave (LW 365nm) UV light is needed to see the strong fluorescence shown in the photos. Regular black lights will not show any fluorescence and each type of UV light will show a difference fluorescence as seen on each picture.
If your UV light isn’t as strong as the ones we used for photography, the fluorescence may appear dimmer or slightly different. Brightness and color intensity depend on the wattage and quality of your UV light.
